Introduction

Welcome to the Future of Tallinn
Marienberg is located where Tallinn breathes most freely. Between the sea and the limestone cliff. At the edge of park and city. In nature, yet not secluded. Inspired by historic urban villas and traditional Estonian farmhouse roofs, the apartment buildings will comprise 300 spacious homes. Marienberg will also feature 4,000 square metres of commercial space for small businesses, cafés and restaurants, as well as sports and cultural activities, alongside a six-group kindergarten and spaces for community activities and peaceful walks and reflection.

People-Centred Urban Space
Marienberg is based on the 15-minute city principle: everything you need for life is just a quarter of an hour away. New pedestrian and cycle tracks connecting the quarter to the Pirita Promenade will add value for those living in the area today, as well as for future residents.

A Counterbalance to High-Rise Buildings
The low-rise apartment buildings, mostly four storeys high, feature spacious courtyards, surrounding footpaths and abundant greenery. The buildings are designed to blend into the natural environment and provide a counterbalance to the high-rise buildings near the Song Festival Grounds.

Honouring Local Heritage and Values
Marienberg is designed to honour the rich history of the area as a summer resort and to celebrate the cultural significance of the Song Festival Grounds, while providing the neighbourhood with generous open space. Festival visitors will be able to move more conveniently to and from the Song Festival Grounds, while residents of Kadriorg will gain a much-needed pedestrian connection to the Pirita Promenade.

Abundant Greenery
In total, 55% of the entire development area will be green space, replacing today’s grey landscape. Parks, walking paths and a green promenade will transform the Kadriorg neighbourhood into a cohesive whole. Priority is given to pedestrians and cyclists, with car parking provided underground.
Turning Grey Into Green
Today
- The Soviet-era fair centre site is currently unused
- An outdated 2,437 m2 asphalt lot
- The entire site is disconnected from nature
- Kadriorg has no direct connection to Pirita Promenade
- The area is not pedestrian- or cyclist-friendly
- No good connection between Kadriorg and Pirita Promenade
In the future
- A modern residential quarter will be built
- Green spaces will be created and expanded (55% of the total area)
- Kadriorg will be connected to Pirita Promenade
- A 15-minute city neighbourhood will be created
- More greenery will be introduced into the urban space, open to everyone
- A community will be created where everything you need is close at hand
Always Within 15 Minutes
Marienberg follows the principles of the 15-minute city and will bring shops and services closer, improving access for both future residents and those already living in the area, who currently need to travel by car for such services. For example, in the future, the kindergarten will be just a short walk away.
